In a career, gravity is not the market, the competition, or the economy. Gravity is the accumulated mass of everything a professional believes about themselves — inhibitions, pessimism dressed as prudence, and the identity that got them here.
A launch vehicle overcomes gravity in stages. Each stage carries the payload through a specific band of resistance — then falls away. What lifts you off the pad cannot carry you to orbit.
Every professional transition is a staging event: the deliberate shedding of what got you here, and the ignition of what gets you there. The coach is the launch vehicle. You are the payload. The mission is your aspiration.

A rocket on the pad is at its heaviest — full tanks, zero velocity. The hardest metre of the entire journey is the first one. But the rocket doesn't need to see orbit to leave the pad. It needs thrust greater than weight — and a trajectory.
Every rocket passes through Max-Q — the moment of maximum structural stress. Some vehicles throttle down to survive it. The point of maximum pressure is not the time for maximum thrust. It is the time for maximum structural integrity.
The Saturn V's first stage produced 7.5 million pounds of thrust — then was deliberately discarded. Not because it failed. Because it had done its job, and its mass was now the enemy of the mission. What got you here is now mass, not thrust.
The fairing shields the payload through the dense lower atmosphere. Above it, the shell is dead weight — and it is jettisoned. Until now, someone above you absorbed the ambiguity and took the public hits. That was your fairing. Now it comes off.
Reaching altitude is not reaching orbit. Orbit is perpetual falling — at a speed that means you never hit the ground. Gravity never disappears at GM level. You simply maintain enough velocity that the pull can no longer bring the business down.
A higher orbit is not reached by pointing up and firing. It takes two precise burns — and long, disciplined coasting between them. And the paradox: in a higher orbit, you move slower. More altitude, more perspective, less frantic velocity. Patience is a propulsion strategy.
At 11.2 km/s an object leaves Earth's pull entirely. But the deepest physics of this stage is not escape. It is becoming a gravitational body yourself — a mass around which others find their orbits. The question inverts: not "what holds me back?" but "what am I holding in orbit — and is my gravity lifting people, or trapping them?"
Flight Rules
A stage ends when separation criteria are met — verified by stakeholders, never self-declared. No stage is skipped. The physics does not permit it.
Every engagement keeps a live Gravity Register — the leader's inhibitions, in their own words. What is named can be fought. What is vague wins by default.
A launch vehicle that refuses to separate is dead weight. Every module is designed for the coach to become progressively unnecessary.
